Description

Companies are seeking to reduce their environmental footprint, optimize resource use, integrate recycled or bio-based materials, and improve waste management. On top of that, European directives, national legislation, and environmental labels strongly encourage industries to adapt their processes. End customers, as well as key stakeholders (manufacturers, equipment suppliers), are increasingly expecting environmentally friendly solutions, driving the creation of new roles dedicated to these challenges.

The Mastère Spécialisé® “Processes and Resources for Circular Economy Engineering” aims to train project managers in the circular economy of plastics and other materials. These professionals are capable of leading initiatives to make the value chain more sustainable—from the choice of raw materials to end-of-life product management. They play a key role in integrating circular economy and eco-design principles into industrial activities, by leveraging technical, managerial, regulatory, and economic skills.

This program is jointly offered by IMT Mines Albi and IMT Mines Alès. It is accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE) and supported by the eco-organization Valdelia.

Program Directors:
Christine Boher :  Professor at IMT Mines Albi and a researcher at the Clément Ader Institute (ICA – UMR CNRS 5312).
Didier Perrin  :  Professor at IMT Mines Alès, head of the "Sustainability & Polymer Recycling" division in the Hybrid Composite Polymers (PCH) team at the Materials Center of Mines Alès (C2MA).

At the end of this Mastère Spécialisé®, participants will be able to understand the managerial, technological, and strategic challenges of circular economy projects within companies, and propose innovative solutions.

The objectives are to:

  • Meet the need to increase material efficiency and reduce environmental impact in industrial processes
  • Train professionals capable of improving the recovery and reuse of end-of-life products from industry, households, and local authorities, through innovative, efficient, and low-impact processes
  • Incorporate new skills into engineering roles to support eco-design with a focus on end-of-life product management
  • Qualify professionals ready to take on the challenges of transitioning from linear to circular production systems

Program Structure
The program includes a common core structured around 4 teaching units (UE), combining lectures, projects, guest talks, and industrial site/company visits:

  • Materials and Product Value Chains
  • Innovative Processes for the Circular Economy
  • Product Life Cycle and Socio-Economic Aspects
  • Scientific and Technical Project

The second semester is dedicated to the Professional Thesis and Internship (4 to 6 months).
